Forging a Woodworking Holdfast

I forged a holdfast for a woodworking friend. I thought I would share the process of how you make one with you.

I made these for a woodworking friend and thought I would share the process of forging a holdfast with you. You’ll even get to see a contrived example at the end where the leverage of cutting a piece of wood at the end requires two holdfasts to secure the work piece.

Forging a holdfast is a great way to practice basic blacksmithing skills. For supplies, you only need a piece of round bar stock, a hammer, an anvil, and a forge. So, have at it and enjoy the video.
